When the last time you heard of a civilian being killed in a car accident while riding around in their hummer?

Recently a friend's brothers wife and her 4 year old were riding in their Ford Expedition on a 2-lane 55mph road near here.

Some clown in an old van coming the other way swerved right into them head on at god knows what speed ... combined impact was at least 110mph ... the fool died on impact, they think he was committing suicide, wife and kid survived, cops said it was only because they were in that big ass Expedition.

p.s. - small cars SUCK! Very Happy

I know i feel much much safer in my car than my moms old Ford expedition she used to have. I even feel safer in her TT compared to the expedition.

i bet if your friends brother's wife had a smaller car, then that guy would be alive today.

1 more post:

Once i was driving on a small 2 lane highway, 55mph speed limit. I was going about 70. Some old guy in a buick or something swirved in front of me goign the opposite diresction. So I quickly swirved around him, partly on the shoulder. I know if I would have done this in an SUV, not only would i have probably flipped over, but i probably wouldnt have had the responsiveness of the steering and i would have crashed into him.

But then again maybe SUVs are good for people who dont have good reaction times, and dont know how to properly drive a car.

yup you got less chance in a small car forsure.

A simular thing happend to my cousin and his friend who were driving along a highway neer Joburg South Africa, he was driving an Isuzu double cab pulling a trailer and this other idiot was on the wrong side of the road driving this Merc at somthing like 190km/h, headlightes off. It was night time and there was no street lighting, my cousin couldent even swerve because he seen this Merc too late. My cousin survived even with 9 broken bones but his friend was not so lucky as the impact happened on the passenger side and couldent climb out when the thing burnt up. We were told the guy in the Merc was succsessful on his second suicide attempt.
